About Us

Background

Shercock Athletic Club was founded in 1994 from an active local community games organisation. With over a hundred juvenile and senior members coming mainly from Shercock, Kingscourt and the surrounding area, the club has developed into one of the strongest in the region. In 2000 we opened our new cinder track facility, which we further upgraded to a tartan track in 2009.

Our Vision

We aim to provide as many athletes as possible with as many opportunities as possible in as many events as possible. We believe that there is a place in our club for athletes of all abilities and work to identify and develop the potential of each club member.

Coaches

Our athletes are trained by an enthusiastic team of coaches, all trained under the Athletics Ireland coaching programme.

Our athletes have medalled individually at national level in cross country and mountain running, race walking, middle distance, steeplechase, sprints, hurdles, long jump, high jump, pole vault, triple jump, shot putt, discus, hammer and combined events. Club teams have achieved national success in sprint relay, cross country running and the national track & field league. Our athletes have competed at national level in almost every athletic event. Athletes are encouraged to try out as many different events as possible to identify their potential.
